September 2022 - The Big Lower

Saturday 3rd September saw the team training on the crags above the Dubh Loch, keeping current in the skill of long rope lowers to rescue casualties or crag fast climbers. An annual exercise colloquially known as 'The Big Lower'.

This type of training is critical for the team to be up to speed with, given the potential consequences of any mistake. The rescuer, or jockey, as they are known, are often out of sight and earshot, so radio procedures and knowledge of the technical rope systems are vital.

The weather help aid the realism of training, with plenty of wind and rain to added to the mix.
